Joseph "JSIII" Smith, III
Pastor, Christian rapper, songwriter and entrepreneur Joseph Smith, III “JSIII” was destined to create music. Born and raised in the culturally rich city of Miami, Florida. His brand of Hip Hop is an amalgamation of diverse sounds and genres that have influenced his artistry. While JSIII participated in sports and took guitar lessons as well as played the trombone in the 6th grade, his career path changed when after he entered college.

He attended Purdue University where he was not only a college student, but also a traveling DJ and DJ for a rap crew he co-founded after his football career ended. Growing up, JSIII, whose stage moniker is derived from his initials, was inspired by all types of music. From Motown Classics, Rock n Roll, Jazz and Gospel, to Reggae, African Beats and Hip Hop, the talented lyricist has an amazing way of blending these elements into a cohesive brand of rap that speaks directly to the spirit.

In short, JSIII’s music is the bridge that connects the old with the new. A narrator of the word of God through song, JSIII uses rhyme and rhythm to introduce or reintroduce souls to salvation. “I trust God in all I do and believe the door to receive Jesus is open to all people.” The southern MC is also an energetic performer who crafts his lyrics from various sources including sermons, books, movies, tv shows or conversations. He strikes a perfect balance between Christian culture and rap. “Hip Hop originally started off with artists speaking their truth, which is the era I’m birthed from. I subscribe to the mentality that you can be a Christian and still have fun and evangelize through dope lyrics.” Recently, in 2022, he released his first solo project “Star” with the songs “On God”, “Queens & Kings” with Gospel artist February Hill/Luke G, “Lovely Day” with JusB V.O.G./Luke G./February Hill and “I Wanna Get Closer” feat. Christian rap veteran Ty Scott King.

A self-described “music minister” who puts his heart into his craft, JSIII is determined to use his voice/rap skills to uplift, honor and praise the name of God. In addition to being an artist, JSIII is joyfully married and co-owns the record label Jehovah Jamz Records with his wife Patricia. They are passioned to take their record label Jehovah Jamz Records to greater heights in 2022 and beyond for God’s glory.
